There's language, nudity, sex and violence. It certainly deserves it's "R" rating.

does the stage show follow suit?

Ask Alice Ripley.

Or, more often than not, Kristen Lee Kelly.

The movie follows the stage show, almost word for word, with only a few minor dialogue changes and the removal of Brad's song "Once in a While", so yes the stage show follows suit, though any actual nudity on stage will depend on the production.

I don't remember there being any actual nudity in the movie....

Little Nell shows her nipple right before she gets zapped with the transducer, and both are visible during the floor show.

I think the stage version may have an f-bomb or two more than the movie, but I'm not 100% sure. And Rocky talks.

That's right -- it's VERY brief though. Nothing compared to just about any other movie that has "nudity".

It's more suggestive than anything else...

Honestly, if THAT'S what gives the movie an R rating, then the standards are even more screwed up than I thought they were! As far as I remember, they only drop the F bomb once ("a mental mindf*** would be nice")

I think an R rating is ridiculous for this.

It contains deviant sex an cannibalism. It is an outrage to decent people everywhere and should be banned for eternity.

Why don't you watch decent family fare like ""The Passion Of The Christ"?

Keep in mind that Rocky Horror precedes the industry's 'PG-13' rating, so back in the 70s the choices were 'PG' and 'R'. Given those choices, 'R' was probably the right one. If the movie were made today, it would probably get a 'PG-13'.

It would get an R rating even today, due to the treatment of sexuality, hetero and homo and bi. The scene between Brad and Frank in bed would get it an R by itself.

Does it deserve the R? Well, maybe. It isn't really intended for kids, is it?

The entire movie is about sexuality. It is completely deserving of its R rating, yet at the same time...many people (including myself) younger than the 'R' age have seen and enjoyed the movie with their friends.

Besides the homosex (including a shadowy bj) and the nipples, there are also explicit and implicit drug references. And, as was pointed out already, in 1975 it was G, PG and R. If it were rerated today, perhaps it would get a PG-13, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm constantly surprised at what people believe is "inappropriate". Rocky Horror was on Fuse last night and they censored so many random things, like when Frank runs his finger down Rocky's stomach during I Can Make You a Man on "steam". They edit out when he chops up Eddie, which, fine, but also when Magenta pulls off his bloody gloves afterwards. It was so annoying. At that point, I gave up and put in the DVD to finish out the movie, because I'm sure the whole mid-section of the movie was chopped to pieces.

I think - but I could be mistaken - that when he runs his finger down Rocky you can see Rocky's pubes.

"you can see [Rocky's] pubes"

Now you can see that on billboards.

Yes. I had to freeze frame it 15 times before I got it just right but YES I SAW PUBES.

How many though? More than 10 guarantees an R rating.

Only 3 pubes, but added to Columbia's nipple and the Statue of David's penis, it's a solid R.
