bwayphreak234... I agree. I'm not a fan of the LED signs... they are hard to photograph and they take away from the Broadway artwork feel. Ugh. Another modernization at the expense of nostalgia
Hoping this is just a temporary image until they design the actual marquee. Dead Accounts at the Music Box started with a similar placeholder marquee for a while before they has the real deal
"They should have somehow covered those windows with a new marquee..."
Those windows are probably dressing room windows and the NYPD on horseback love to stop outside the theaters and look up at the windows to watch the showgirls change costumes. And yes, the showgirls know they are watching...some of them get a little too close for comfort to windows in order to show off their bare breasts.
The great thing about LED advertisements you can change the ad with a click of a button on a keyboard and if necessary you can do it from 3,000 miles away.
In the photos I think it looks great however the Telecharge ad has to go, it takes up too much space and considering 'on the day' people would buy tickets at the Box Office or maybe at TKTS I don't see the need to promote a ticket agency so heavily.
Re: Telecharge. 1. The Shubert Organization owns Telecharge. That is why it is there. Box office or not, buy on telecharge and they make more money off of you. 2. The Shubert Organization OFTEN displays ads for Telecharge on theatres where a show is not CURRENTLY running, even when the next show's marquee may be up. Nothing new to see here.
This is such a big improvement. The red color scheme they updated the marquee to looks incredible! Much better than that dreary blue/teal scheme they had up originally. Also, thank god they got rid of the unsightly telecharge logo that took up half of the marquee.
I wonder if it is possible to show video clips, it would look really cool with the man waving the red flag on the barricade, with the slogan ' The Next Reveloution Is To Hit The Imperial Theatre, New York'.

It is. They're using the B-roll from the UK tour.
