I've seen the show 2 from standing room and once from extremem house left. SRO was a better view, no doubt.

YES, its not the standing for the show that's tough -- its the waiting for the tix that makes it rough.

Bumping up an old thread to see if anyone can give me an idea of how the standing room lines have been lately. I'm looking to try for this Saturday matinee and would like a clue as to when I should get in line to be safe. Don't know how the cold weather has affected the lines, so any input would be much appreciated!

I went in the fall and there are about 5 people in line at about 930-10am. There might be even fewer now that is colder.

Or more now that the Matt Doyle fangirls/fanboys are in frequent attendance.

I'd very much like to see Matt Doyle in this -- enough so that I'm considering trying SRO during xmas week. I think I will let the weather decide whether I will have the fortitude to do so.

For what it's worth, I showed up at 2PM and was the first one there. I'd say the cutoff to get tickets was probably around 3:30, for a 7PM curtain time tonight.

But I wouldn't see Doyle in this - he was having major vocal issues tonight and still seemed to be having trouble finding his way around the character. Jon Bass, the new Cunningham, wasn't much better, as he was pretty much doing a second-rate Josh Gad impression. It's a shame to see the actors (some of whom have been with the show since February 2011) coasting on the (very strong) material.

Do you mean the ensemble actors were coasting?

I got that sense from Potts, O'Malley and even James a little bit as well. It's easy to step forward and say the hilarious lines written for you without really putting in effort or indulging a sense of "play".

That would be sad considering O'Malley and James were the real bright spots once Rannells left (I never did and still don't care for Gad, I think Gertner did a better job.)

Considering Gertner is being moved to his third company (and second opening), I'm sure you're not alone in that opinion.

fwiw PiraguaGuy, Matt had been sick around the time you saw it which is why he was probably having vocal issues

For SRO on the matinee on Sunday, what time do any of you think would be an appropreate time to get there? The rush report said 2 people were there by 9:40, but that includes Saturday as well. And is the SRO two tickets per person or one? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

2 per person. 9:30 would be safe.

I did SRO two Saturdays ago...was second in line at 9:30am, and the people in line by the cutoff point had been there since around 10/10:15.

Actually really enjoyed the space for SRO - was able to lean on my arms ahead and feel "relaxed." Good view of the stage, nothing outlandishly obstructed.

Matt Doyle had some vocal issues the day I went (coughed during some songs and didn't quite hit some of the notes), but he was a perfectly fine Price. The ensemble did some strong work except during "Spooky Mormon Hell Dream" where unfortunately they seemed to be very very low energy. Ah well, still good.

And some of the cast started following me on Instagram after, so I'm cool with that Book of Mormon Standing Room?
