They showed footage of her singing at a convention I attended a while back singing the Belle reprise, she sounded good from what I'd heard. Kind of similar to Lily James in Cinderella, not a trained belting soprano singer but a nice voice none the less.

perhaps her vocal range is a bit higher. At one point she was heavily rumored for Cosette in the Les Mis film.

I think you meant Eponine.

uh when was Emma Watson ever rumored for any role in the Les Miz film? i feel like I would distinctly recall that.

also you guys, there's this crazy thing they invented many years ago called autotune; i'm sure if her vocals aren't up to snuff Disney's wonderful music producers will be able to deal with it.

I think you meant Eponine.

I also remember her name being thrown around for Cosette. I never heard she was up for Eponine.

I had heard Cosette too. In regards to the cut songs that is complete BS as Jack Morrisey confirmed recently there are five new songs in the film that have all made the cut. So we get all the songs from the film minus Human Again and an additional five songs. From what I gather there is four in the movie and one in the credits.

A song between Belle and her father, Days in the sun by the Enchanted objects, Forever More by the Beast and a reprise of Beauty and the Beast by Aurda at the end of the film. So that's twelve songs in the entire production.

me too. it's one of my favourites songs from the film.

are there any videos on youtube of Emma Watson singing? she must be good at singing or Bill Condon would not have chosen her for the movie...knowing it was going to be a musical and all.

I've never heard Watson sing, but the other leads in the film ARE good singers, so I suspect she must be able to hold her own.

I haven't the time to go through this entire thread but what was the reasoning behind writing 5 new songs to add to the existing 4 or 5 from the original animated film as opposed to adapting the stage musical into a film?

Purely speculation but my guess would be (aside from the fact that none of the new songs for the Broadway production would be Academy Award eligible) they wanted a more 'intimate' feel (and perhaps a darker aesthetic) for the film rather than the feel of what was on Broadway.

i completely agree with this. the songs from the musical ("no matter what", "maison des lunes", etc...) adds longer scenes for the different characters (maurice, monsieur d'arque, etc...) and makes their backstories a lot more interesting as we do not see maurice nor monsieur d'arque much in the original film. i think NO MATTER WHAT would have been fab for the live action film as it is such a lovely poignant moment between belle and her father and is quite emotional as we see Maurice's softer side showing how much he loves his daughter.

Yes, but they are of a particular "Broadway" sound that might not translate well into the tone of the film they were hoping to create. I don't understand why so many are taking issue that they aren't making a movie of the Broadway version of the musical - film is a completely different medium -- BUT its the same composing team, so it just means you are going to get more B&B selections in your itunes portfolio.

From what I hear the songs are pretty reminiscent of the style of the musical in the film.

Talking with people who had seen a few screenings and such they said Forever More sounded similar to If I can't love her.

Oh for Heaven's sake... like Disney would really take the Perrault route and have a closet of bodies in a PG film. lol. Is it April Fool's? haha!

Quick Assessment of the Situation as of 25 October 2016:

The 7 Original Songs [Belle, Belle (Reprise), Gaston, Be Our Guest, Something There, Beauty and the Beast & The Mob Song] are all going to be in this upcoming film. Unfortunately NONE of the added Menken/Rice songs from the Broadway musical [No Matter What, No Matter What (Reprise), Me, Home, Home (Reprise), How Long Must This Go On, If I Can't Love Her, Human Again, Maison Des Lunes, If I Can't Love Her (Reprise) & A Change in Me) will be in this upcoming film.

However here are all the details we have so far regarding the new songs (and please correct me if I'm wrong or if I missed anything):

1. Forever More- Sung by Dan Stevens as The Beast after he lets Belle leave the castle to go reduce Maurice

2. Days in the Sun- Sung by The Enchanted Objects looking back at their lives before the curse

3. People Remember Us- Sung by Emma Watson as Belle & Kevin Kline as Maurice

4. Untitled song

5. Another untitled song

I also understand that Audra McDonald will be singing a reprise of "Beauty and the Beast". Perhaps over the credits... We shall see... 143 Days to Go!

I think People remember us is the song Alan Menken sang recently at his show. The other additional songs are the song by Audra and a credit song.

Oh my god yessssssss. I cannot wait to hear her sing that! Glad they're using her incredible voice to possibly end the film.

I'm VERY GLAD that Audra is singing in the film!!! Cause she is one of the greatest voices on Broadway right now, truth is Bill Condon would've been foolish to NOT make use of her talents!!!

I'm pretty sure it will be a new song. That way they can campaign for it to be nominated for an Oscar. I mean, Audra's TONYS could really use some company.

I think it's just literally "Tale as old as time, song as old as rhyme, Beauty and the Beast" alongside a choir at the finale of the movie from what I have heard.

Other than that I'm hearing she sings a few solo lines in Days if the Sun as well as solos for the rest of the furniture, the Beast and Belle. Everyone has their own duet section of the song.

Think of "If Only" from Little Mermaid.

And I'm pretty sure that if any of the new songs are nominated for the Oscar, that it'll be Alan Menken and Tim Rice who will be getting the credit not Audra.

Audra doesn't get her own original song as far as I know. Just a few lines to close the film and a bit to sing with Stanley Tucci in Days of the Sun. The only solo numbers are Forever More and Belle (Reprise) all other songs are sang with the ensemble or with supporting characters.

It would have been nice to have a solo for Belle or have "Home" included, it could have been her Anne Hathaway "I dreamed a dream" moment. Sadly there isn't much of a chance of her to shine on her own unless she really raises the bar on the Belle Reprise but it's such a short song that I doubt it will have much of an impact.

yeah Audra didn't write the music, she wouldn't win an Oscar for singing one

I thought principal vocalists get the award too, like Grammys? I guess not. My bad.
