Diane only has success with revivals. All of her shows are subsidized by Massachusetts taxpayers for the non-profit ART. When her shows (always the revivals) are popular and critical successes, she and her commercial partners make the profits. Meanwhile, ticket buyers for the non-profit ART are hectored in emails that ticket prices only pay for a fraction of the costs of the shows.
It's a racket.
On the other hand, I'm totally subscribing next season to the ART.

why would she be crying? Not getting a nomination isn't going to break her. There are only 5 slots. I don't know a single director who has always been nominated.

Personally I don't thank Neverland's "snubs" had much to do with Harvey at all. Sure, he didn't help matters with his antics in the press, but if the show were better it would have received nominations.
The critics are not the nominating committee, and although it got terrible reviews, if the nominators had liked it they would have given it some recognition. This season provided a bounty of stellar theater and a mediocrity (or worse) like FN was not going to make the grade.
Marie: Don't be in such a hurry about that pretty little chippy in Frisco.

I think many people are over estimating the longetivity of FN. It is hardly selling out, is on TKTS, the "10" million advance will disappear fast. The show is very mediocre IMO and the better shows got the noms. They have absolutely nothing to brag about as far as noms and that is a nail in the coffin.

I'm torn because obviously the critics didn't love the production, and many shows with reviews just as scathing get shut out all the time. "Gigi" without Harvey got only one nod. At the time time, I can't help but think it was a calculated and deliberate snub of Harvey (again, zero nods) since the production itself had some good elements in it. It's sort of the chicken or the egg scenario with me.
Having said that, anyone willing to pour money into a BW production isn't necessarily all of a bad thing, is it? I wouldn't be surprised if Harvey tries again.

With bad reviews and 0 Tony Nominations, Harvey better not pull the discounts on this or else sales will collapse rapidly.

didn't the show cost 12 million? Even if it costs 700,000 a week, and they continue having these million dollar weeks, they are making more than 300,000 a week.

Went to the box office a couple of weeks ago to get tickets for FN. The first attendant was so rude as he walked away from me three times while I was trying to tell him the date for which I wanted tickets. By the third time, he was ending his shift, so without saying a word, he walked away and a new person sat down. She never explained why he walked away either. Told her the date, and told her I had a discount code. She told me the price has been raised, and I said, "Oh, I didn't realize you could do that." My tone was not argumentative. The tone of her response was negative. She snarkily said, "I do not control anything. The producers may do whatever they'd like." It wasn't the situation that bothered me or the rise in ticket price. It was the complete lack of customer service and common pleasantry that both ticketing people displayed.
By that time I said, "I think I'm just going to forget about it," and I got tickets for Something Rotten instead. Glad I did. With negative reviews and no Tony nominations now, the producers need to sprinkle a bit of pixie dust on the staff of the theatre.

Geeze, the 10 million advance (if that's even true) is spread out over months of tickets and is part of that 1, (1 million, not "millions", not even 1.2 million) it takes in a week. It's not 10 million dollars they just have lying around. There are several TV commercials running right now, Morrison, Grammer, Paulus, are all getting hefty pay checks, if the show is making $200,000 gross a week, I'd be surprised. No one is making millions on this show and they probably won't untill the show is released on unsuspecting touring audiences and community and schools who think, "oohh Peter Pan! let'd do it!". After the reviews groups who have bought tkts in advance can cancel, cutting into the "magic" 10 million. I'm sure the up front budget has surpassed 20 or even 25 million by now. Only time will tell if anyone makes "tons" of money off this turkey.

They didn't 'make' 10 million, that was their advance sales. At best they have been making approx $300,000 a week which goes back to paying off the initially investment. Technically they haven't 'made' any money yet

I haven't liked Harvey for years, I think he's a bully and doesn't actually care about his projects beyond how much they can make him, but honestly, I think Weinstein hate is being used as a scape goat, instead of admitting, hey, maybe this show wasn't nomination worthy in a season with so many other stand out productions. It's easy to say that the nominators were being petty and that's the only reason they weren't nominated, that way the people who did enjoy the show and the ones who were a part of it, including Harvey himself, don't have to admit to the flaws in it.
