Nasty Headmaster, I think they'll show Belle's childhood if that's the case, probably allude to her being excluded from school for being odd.

adding that part of the storyline just seems stupid to me. fair enough with the mother part cos that would be lovely as a flashback when belle and maurice are singing "no matter what", but adding a scene where we see belle as a schoolgirl being kicked out cos everybody thinks she's odd? i mean, c'mon......

What they should be doing is expanding the story we all know  and love like the Broadway show did. More time to see Belle's relationship with her father, I say.

Hattie Morahan is  NOT playing Belle's mother, but the Enchantress. It has been confirmed by Jack Morrissey: https://www.facebook.com/therealjackmorrissey/posts/10155682705660508?pnref=story

And, I think the headmaster could be used to dive deeper into Belle's relationship with her father, too very easily! He , along with Belle's classmates could have teased her for how "peculiar" she is, and how she's a woman and "should learn her place and not read", and yadda yadda yadda, while her father teaches her to be herself.

It's still the same story...Belle was treated odd in the original film, and this way, her relationship with her father could be expanded.

But let's wait until something is confirmedBeauty and the Beast

I guessed that she was the Enchantress on pg 19.

wish they would just announce the rest of the cast already and all this business of adding new characters is just ridiculous.

Most of them flashbacks, obviously.

Several of you guys are jumping to conclusions over unconfirmed information. Nasty Headmaster could be anybody. It's going to be a long two years if every little piece of information is scrutinized. Just enjoy the process of following this production -- even if things don't turn out how you wanted (i.e. not getting who you want as Lumiere and so on). Also, if there are changes, which there will be, just try to embrace them. They just might work to the benefit of the film. Beauty and the Beast

Nothing can be as bad as everyone's whining and fussing while Into the Woods was in production.

"Nothing can be as bad as everyone's whining and fussing while Into the Woods was in production."

Beauty and the Beast, is a classic and iconic Disney film. It changed the face of theatre when it became Disney's first animated film to be adapted into a Broadway musical. The songs are iconic and wonderful and has a topped-bill cast to it, such as Ian McKellan, Emma Thompson, etc...Beauty and the Beast, is a film for both the adults as well as the younger generation and every little girl loves a Disney Princess (including myself and i'm in my late 20's) and not everybody gets the story of Into The Woods including me. It wasn't a film I wanted to go and see.

I think all of us on this message board including myself, just want the film to have the perfect cast because this is the only Disney film that the crew is adapting, that is close to the original 1991 Disney film that everybody loved and enjoyed watching as a kid. I know I did and STILL DO. The music is beautiful and for it to have a perfect cast, would really put the cherry on top of the cake. The casting has been perfect so far and for them to add new characters now, would be a bit rubbish. They will need to finish casting for the film pretty soon cos they start filming on the 18th May.

Right. I get it. I'm a huge Disney and BATB fan and am far more excited for this than I was with ITW. But is it worth complaining/arguing/stressing over online...? It hasn't even started filming and people are getting their panties in a twist.

Embrace that it's not going to go your way and look forward to seeing how it will turn out.

The "Nasty Headmaster" could be actually something in reference to Beast's past. In "Something There" and "Human Again", there is a chunk of dialog about Beast not being able to read, and the only time he did was "long ago". Wouldn't put it past them to expand on this via flashback. Again, it is more likely that it is Belle's past, but you never know with these recent adaptations.

Personally though, I am more inclined to think this might be one of those "roles" where this is just a minor character used in the "Belle" sequence, who gets a bit more minutes on screen. We might pass by him as Belle is running through the village, and he sings one of the lines, smacks a kid's head with a ruler, and call it a day. He might then also sing a line in "The Mob Song" as well, to justify him getting a credit on the IMDb page. At least, I'd prefer that over adding new plot elements that are redundant in my opinion.

How the **** is that role cast while we don't know who Lumiere is?!

Anyway, regarding on what people are saying about Disney fans, being protective of the original movie, it's because this movie is really special. Not only because it's deemed as one of the greatest Disney films of all time, but because this was the first animated movie EVER to be nominated for Best Picture before Up and TS3. This was huge and people thought this would never happen. Also, this was Howard Ashman's last whole Disney movie until his tragic passing. This movie has a lot to be celebrated about, so Disney needs to be very careful with it.

I'd love to see a beautifully filmed sequence in the castle of Belle singing "Home". Dear lord I hope they don't change the keys drastically for Emma like the Evita movie. Talk about cringe worthy

Even if this does end up sucking, I won't really care. Nothing will ever beat the original Broadway production at the palace. That to me is the definitive beauty and the beast. I would even say it's better than the film. I don't have much faith in this film only because I don't think Emma Watson will be a captivating Belle. Hopefully she proves me wrong but I doubt she will. Susan Egan's belle is probably the best we are ever going to get and I'm perfectly fine with that.
