This is something that I worried about when I went as saw the first preview but it sounded as if they had a full orchestra. You could not really tell that they were playing with a smaller ochestra

Is opening the 31st or 2nd?

The orchestra sounds absolutely fantastic.  The audience was howling for the overture, which truly did sound stunning.  It really drove the whole show and it seems to be under the great direction and conducting of Kristen Blodgette. I'm sure it would sound even better with more pieces, but whatever they have done truly sounds incredible.

not sure if they are using it or not, but these days the synth technology has come a long way and alot of times you can't really tell when typically 'real' instruments are done on keyboards (horns and strings in particular)

I guess this also means she has finally left Phantom.
"

She has had her hands in many ALW shows for a very long time. I'd expect to still see her around Phantom.

Has this been on TKTS at all? I'm getting a little discouraged by having no luck with the digital lottery, so looking for another option....also - what happens with lotto tickets that people end up not buying? I'd imagine a bunch of people that win either forget to check if they won or decide they can't/don't want to go.

Don't know what happens to unclaimed lotto tickets, but entrants receive an email if they won or lost, so I doubt that there at *that* many unclaimed tickets. According to their app, Cats has been on TKTS, but probably not very many seats available. I'm told that the show has been selling exceptionally well.

I'm seeing photos on Instagram of what looks like Tyler Hanes (as Tugger) taking photos with audience members during the show: https://www.instagram.com/p/BIVdZ8mBS3z/?taken-by=catsbroadway

Can anyone provide context?

During 'Rum Tum Tugger,' he jumps offstage and there is a cat acting as "paparazzi" with a "fake" (prop camera with an iPhone or something in it) and takes a picture of him with a fan.

If anyone has been to more than one preview in separate weeks could you talk about any of the changes that have been made?

Just to confirm, this was not happening in the First Preview. Not sure when this was introduced. Would love to hear how the audience as a whole reacts to it, because the photos make it look fun.

As the Opening Night date approaches, to what extent are the two Grizbella understudies given time to learn and practice their material?  What is usually the process involved in doing that, with this specific role in mind?  Does management work with one or both of the understudies?  Just curious.http://www.playbill.com/personlistpage/person-list?production=00000152-d6f4-d39d-a95f-fef413a00000&type=op#oc

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I joined the message boards, after reading them for years, after seeing last night's preview of Cats.

Did we see the same show?  Because this was TERRIBLE.

I was shocked by how bad many of the dancers were - sickled feet, poor extensions, wobbling ankles, movements not done full-out  The set and costumes were nearly faithful recreations of the original, and there was barely any Blankenbuehler visible in the choreography (save the incredibly different Mr. Mistoffeles). Leona Lewis was embarrassingly, shockingly bad : one facial expression, one way of holding her body, a high-school-theatre command of the character.

Am I the only person here who thought this was just terrible?

I enjoyed this revival very much. Never saw the original so I have nothing to compare to, but I thought the actors were fantastic and the songs are so good. And the dancing is great!

Has anyone done stage door? Has Leona been typically signing afterwards?

Pardon if this has been shown before, but I ran across this video of Laurie Beechman singing "Memory."  Words cannot describe how beautiful this performance is.  http://www.broadwaybox.com/daily-scoop/clip-of-the-day-laurie-beechmans-memory-may-bring-you-to-tears/
