I needed this cast album yesterday. Has there been any talk yet? Maybe get it out before Christmas?

I saw it last Friday. The reviews on here have been way too harsh. I found it enjoyable. It's not the best show I've ever seen, but it's also far from the worst. I thought they did a good job all around. Well worth $25 a ticket for Hiptix Gold members.

Roundabout seasons always have their ups and downs, but with the comments about THE CHERRY ORCHARD (which I foolishly bought advance tickets for, yipes) and HOLIDAY INN (which is clearly meant to be a cash cow for them, but sounds pretty bad), there is no way I will consider becoming a subscriber again.

Well, they can thank me and Lanny Meyers for Nothing More to Say, which I found in Mr. Berlin's files and which was a scribbled melody line with lyrics and NO harmonies whatsoever.  I loved the lyric and tune and Lanny and I harmonized it as we thought Mr. Berlin might have - and the family loved it and so we included it on the Unsung Irving Berlin CD (sung exquisitely by Liz Callaway), which is where this creative team undoubtedly heard it and appropriated it from.

I have yet to see Holiday Inn, I have tix for mid October, however Cherry Orchard IMO is much better than many posters wrote. I am curious to see what critics say, because to me, they were harsh for no reason.

So im still looking forward to Holiday inn...in case they are wrong here too.

" Wow, they must have really tightened this thing up (run time significantly reduced)..."

"I expected much worse based on the reviews here but I found it to be wonderful. Didn't notice any book issues and loved the cast."

Comments like these are exactly why I think folks are wise to reserve judgement on shows until they have had at least weeks of previews, if not until they actually firm up for opening.

Thats ridiculous. If I see a show, I'm going to judge what I see, not what it might become in 4 weeks.

Of course most of us have that tendency and prerogative, but if you've seen a Preview I'll take your opinion with a grain of salt... much as I do if someone dislikes a book they haven't finished.

By the way, I haven't seen Holiday Inn and have no opinion about that particular show.

big difference between "reserving judgement" and taking others with opinions with a grain of salt

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Agreed.  "Reserving judgement" is what I try to do if I am seeing a Preview and will later see the finished product, while "taking with a grain of salt" is what I try to do when hearing other people's impressions of unfinished work.

Just caught today's matinee and came to say this show was absolutely lovely! I came away with such warmth... I am feeling so happy and light.

I felt that the casting was perfect; they played well off each other and had some glorious harmonies. Bryce is in wonderful voice, just heavenly. I feel that this music is much more suited for him than in Gentleman's Guide.

The choreography was well done and the ensemble is very tight; Corbin tapped up a frenzy as expected, and the juxtaposition of the show biz life with the country life really helped keep the pace. And I loved all the costumes and the stage design. The production values are just immense.

I was afraid the show would be a bore and a chore but not at all. It's very charming and funny, and I was grinning from ear to ear! It's a very sweet story with great music. Even though I recognized almost none of the songs, the show has a great "classic" feel without feeling worn and kitschy. I'm surprised it's not getting as much love as She Loves Me.

I won the lottery a couple days ago and went to the show expecting not to like it. Maybe it was the mood I was in after being poked, prodded and biopsied all day, maybe it was the fact my ticket was front row direct center, but I was thoroughly enchanted the entire evening. The show was fun and the cast was wonderful, especially the extremely talented and funny Megan Lawrence who needs to be cast in more shows. My only problem was that Lee Wilkof was totally underused. Also, I am now a huge fan of Corbin Bleu. His dance solo during "Let's Say It With Firecrackers" stopped the show.

I saw it sep 6 and liked it. The story is simple but the musical numbers are great, really liked Shaking the blues away. I had a great time...

I'm seeing it at the end of the month.  Really looking forward to it.

Just saw it.  It's lovely.  Choreography's fantastic, songs are great.  Not sure how you could walk out of here having a bad time.  Is it a limited run?
