Anyone else see this today? As a huge Spider-Man fan, I was really pleased with how the film turned out.

Saw it 3D IMAX this morning and loved it. Garfield and Stone were perfect. It was thrilling and fun. Everything I want from a summer-action-popcorn-superhero flick.

I agree. This kind of film is not my usual fare but I think they,(the entire creatve team, did quite a nice job.

Went to the early 2D showing at Lincoln Square this morning. Packed auditorium, including Patrick Page! I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The 3D was pretty amazing. I'm not afraid of heights, but the sequence with Spidey and the cranes up 6th Ave made me dizzy! I couldn't get over how good Garfield was. And despite all the threads on Datalounge about how gay he is, I thought Garfield had great chemistry with Stone.

Datalounge claims that everyone is gay...

How much is Martin Sheen in the film?

The Amazing Spider-Man

Martin has several scenes early on and a few funny lines. He plays Uncle Ben so,

SPOILER**********
if you are familiar with Spider-Man you know he is going to die sometime in the film.

I've always been impressed with Garfield.

If you haven't seen BOY A you should definitely check it out.

I'll see ANYTHING with Emma Stone in it. She plays Spiderman, right?

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by WhizzerMarvin TrinaJasonMendel 2012-07-05 14:30:45

I'll have to check out Boy A. I liked in him Never Let You Go and Death of Salesman, and of course loved him in The Social Network.

I can't recommend it highly enough, whizzer. Also, to get the full effect of the wallop the film packs try to go in as unspoiled as possible.

And who doesn't love Emma Stone?

I also really enjoyed Garfield in Never Let Me Go, a movie that should have had a wider audience. He was also great as Spidey, in my opinion.

Ok, I won't read anything about it before I see it.

After Easy A how could one not fall for Emma Stone. Her montage of singing Pocket Full of Sunshine with that greeting card alone did me in.

I saw this on Friday and I enjoyed it. Yes, there are some things that I easily remebered from the 2002 film that were in ths film, but it was very enjoyable. Garfield, Stone, and Leary were the highlights for me.

Stone was great, the film could have lost a good twenty minutes. Enjoyable enough.

And TED out grossed Spiderman in Australia on the opening weekend!

I left this movie saying "eh". It was really just okay IMO. I was disappointed, and thought the story went on too long and was kind of dumb. Loved Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone though. I guess I just don't see the point in making another movie so soon unless it is going to be better than the originals, and this one did not even come close. I also saw Ted and Magic Mike and I enjoyed both of those much more than Spider-Man. I DID think Spider-Man was better than The Avengers though which I HATED.

They made this one because if they didn't make another movie soon they were going to loose their contract/rights to make spiderman films. Well, Spiderman 3 sucked, so they decided to reboot instead of attempting a Spiderman 4.

After Easy A how could one not fall for Emma Stone. Her montage of singing Pocket Full of Sunshine with that greeting card alone did me in.

And the pencil-sharpening scene! The only way to make Amanda Bynes funny is to have Emma Stone doing all the dialogue herself.

Seeing it tonight in IMAX. I'm so excited, I'm pratically jumping off the walls (or climbing them if we wan't to stay on topic)

Saw it today and found it really entertaining. Mrs R decided to join me even though she did it just to go with me as I wanted to see it. She really loved it and was glad she came with me.

The 3 D was very good especially during the climax. They set the stage for the next one.Best use of 3D since Avatar

I liked it a lot, but was still meh on the 3D. I'm beginning to think I have some sort of sight defect because it never does anything for me, and I preferred to watch a lot of this movie with the glasses off - I only put them on when it got blurry (about a third). It's all a con, I tell you.

Anyway, I thought one of Spidey's main powers was the ability to shoot web...how come in this he had to develeop that skill independently of the spider-bite?

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by Mr Roxy 2012-07-13 22:04:31

Good question. That part was totally unnecessary.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by spiderdj82 2012-07-13 22:07:21

He always had to develop the web shooters since the original comic. It was only changed in the Tobey Maguire movies.

Did not know that. Batman & Superman were my comic book favorites.

Ah, thanks. I prefer the Tobey way!

I'm glad they changed it back to the way it was in the comics. Spiders don't shoot webs from their wrists.

If you had to name the part of the body that spiders do produce their webbing from with a part of the human anatomy then he should be shooting webs from his abs, which actually I wouldn't mind seeing.

Just got back from seeing it and LOVED it. They could have shortened some scenes in the beginning though. Andrew Garfield as Peter/Spidey.......Perfection!

Shailene Woodley has been offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in the sequel.

Hm. I'm worried they're gonna force this next film into a twilighty angst-fueled love triangle. Hopefully they'll at least maintain the original story of the comics.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by strummergirl 2012-10-10 19:05:58

Shailene Woodley's a lovely girl but this is one of those situations where the MJ role is going to be problematic as it means that Peter Parker is going to have to turn his head from looking at a Gwen played by Emma Stone.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by EricMontreal22 2012-10-10 19:49:20

Are they maybe heading towards filming the infamous Death of Gwen early 70s story arc?

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by strummergirl 2012-10-10 19:55:42

You sort of expect it. It is what she is most known for. Kind of like, you bring in Harvey Dent- we need to see how he becomes Two-Face (I am still sad Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent never got that turn) or when you bring in Bane you have to recreate the infamous 'He broke Batman' panel. Certain comic book characters have inescapable arcs.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by EricMontreal22 2012-10-10 19:58:28

Exactly. Frankly, for most not super hardcore modern readers, that's *all* Gwen is famous for.

Jamie Foxx is in talks to play the villain, Electro, in the sequel.

The upcoming sequel has released the first photo of the Rhino, who will be played by Paul Giamatti.

Posted by OperaBwayLover 2013-05-12 10:55:17

We get the Rhino? Cool. But will he wear the big gray suit, I wonder? Or is that against the new 'realism' in comic book films these days?

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by beautywickedlover 2013-06-19 15:04:29

Shailene Woodley's scenes as Mary Jane Watson have been cut from the sequel. The character will instead be introduced in the third film.

The Amazing Spider-Man
Posted by spiderdj82 2013-06-19 19:52:52

I'm actually okay with this. If the rumors are true and they follow the comic's timeline for Gwen Stacey.....then it makes sense to have Mary Jane come in later. Too many love interests in one movie is not a good thing.
