How to assess the impact of human stupidity on our personal destiny and the whole of society? Big question ... when Carlo Maria Cipolla decided to answer this little masterpiece of intellectual tightrope.
Playing on the thread of paradox and contradiction, he built a short pseudo-scientific test, a kind of general theory of hilarious stupidity. The demonstration, led schemes in support of a very serious tone, is more spiritual. According to Cipolla, humanity is divided into four main categories: idiots, gangsters, smart, stupid. And it is stupid that, by far, are the most formidable.
"We know from Darwin that we have common origins with animals, like us, earthworms and elephants have to endure their daily lot of tests. But humans have the privilege to bear an additional dose, the source of which is a group of individuals devoid of status, without structure or constitution, without a leader or president, who nevertheless managed to work perfectly in unison, so the activity of each member contributes to more efficient than all the others ... "
