NEWSical The Musical is the forever changing, completely un-sanitized musical mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof. From Honey Boo Boo to selfies, Pope Francis to Miley Cyrus, marriage equality to Obamacare, NEWSical The Musical sets all of today's biggest pop culture headlines to song. NEWSical The Musical plays daily (except Wednesdays) at Theatre Row on 42nd Street. Kandi Burruss' final performance will be Sunday, January 26th. Playwrights Horizons presents the World Premiere production of THE (curious case of the) WATSON INTELLIGENCE, a new play by Madeleine George (The Zero Hour). Directed by two-time Obie Award winner Leigh Silverman (Go Back to Where You Are, Blue Door and The Call at PH; The Madrid, Chinglish, Golden Child, Well), the production celebrated its opening last night, December 9 at 7PM . It will play a limited engagement through Sunday evening, December 29 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). Broadway Matilda's, Sophia Gennusa, Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon, and Milly Shapiro as well as Kerry Ingram (West End Matilda), Carly Paige Baron (Mary Poppins), Colin Critchley (Kinky Boots, Waiting For Godot), Emma Howard (Matilda), Sawyer Nunes (Matilda), Kara Oates (Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot), Julianna Rigoglioso (Mary Poppins, Far From Heaven), Abigail Shapiro (How the Grinch Stole Christmas), Hayden Signoretti (Mary Poppins, Richard III), took part in in Cabaret for a Cause on November 25th. The event was held at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre to raise money for Shifting Shakespeare.

Broadway dreams came true for sixty-four students from across the country when they perform alongside their Broadway idols in BDF's Circle of Dreams NYC Showcase at New World Stages. BDF teaches the next generation of musical theater performers how to kick start their career through unique, week-long performance intensives taught by Broadway's brightest stars and savvy industry insiders. Sixty-four exceptional students were nominated from each of the six cities BDF visited this summer to showcase their talents before an audience of the industry's top casting directors, agents and directors. The Broadway Dreams Foundation's 'Circle of Dreams NYC Showcase,' directed by Olivier Award-nominated director Stafford Arima, featured Broadway favorites Tituss Burgess, Joey Contreras, Craig D'Amico, Greg Graham, Deidre Goodwin, Tyler Hanes, Greg Haney, Luke Hawkins, Syke Mattox, Liz McCartney, Nancy Opel, Nicholas Rodriguez and Matthew Scott. The box office of the newly renovated Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) opened yesterday, November 25, 2013, for The Bridges of Madison County, which will begin performances on Friday, January 17, 2014. The opening night is set for Thursday, February 27, 2014. Rehearsals will begin Monday, December 9, 2013. In celebration of the opening, customers who visited the box office between 10AM and 11AM were entered to win a special, grand prize - an original love song, written and performed by Jason Robert Brown. An annual benefit event produced by the 24 Hour Company and Freestyle Picture Company for Urban Arts Partnership, The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway attracts some of entertainment's biggest names as they join forces to participate in an extreme rite of theater: writing, directing, and performing 6 original short plays, all in just 24 hours. The Casting Society of America (CSA) announced the winners of the organization's 29th Annual Artios Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Casting, given in 22 categories including film, television and theater. The CSA feted their own on Monday, November 18, 2013 with award ceremonies held simultaneously at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles and at XL Nightclub, Cabaret & Lounge in New York. Directed by Igor Goldin, and with Music Direction by Matt Castle, the cast features Frank Anderson, Wilson Bridges, Patrick Cummings, Jessica Grove, Julia Johanos, Anne Kanengeiser, Erick Pinnick, Lauren Sterling, Debra Walton, and William Zeffiro.
