In November last year, after the heartbreak of losing his collaborator and love of nearly forty years, Ruby Hunter, Archie Roach released Into the Bloodstream, a breathtakingly raw and honest suite of songs, affirming the wonder of life in the face of all that it can throw at you. Spanning the turbulent story of Roach's life, this is a giddy, celebratory swirl of folk, gospel and soul, tied together by an inimitable brand of lyrical storytelling.

Performed for Melbourne Festival with the backing of a 13-piece musical ensemble and a ten-voice Indigenous gospel choir led by the Black Arm Band's Lou Bennett - and bolstered for the transcendent finale by the vocal might of Skin Choir - this will be an unmissable, uplifting night of music, spirit and celebration from a man who is surely one of Australia's greatest living treasures.
