What IS the perfect life, does it exist? Is it illusion, do you know it when you have it? Does anyone? Or is it something you only recognize and appreciate when it's gone? In 1985 James Lecesne an American actor, author, screenwriter, and LGBT rights activist best known for his screenplay of the Academy-award winning short film Trevor wrote a musical called One Man Band, in which he played all the characters. The music was by Tony winner Larry Hochman and Marc Elliot (also the lyricist). Elliot is a stage and screen actor, writer, and has written for everything from Romper Room to Radio City Music Hall productions. In 2008 the show became an actual multi person show and then in 2014 Larry's daughter Laurie, a graduate of Emerson College with a BA in Film and TV writing started to rework the book. Laurie is now pursuing a Masters in Musical Theatre writing at NYU. The show has had a few successful reading/concert versions, but putting up a new show anywhere in New York City is extremely cost prohibitive. Austin Theatre Project's producer Barbara Schuler and Tony Award winning and multi-nominated orchestrator and composer, Emmy Award and Drama Desk Award winner Larry Hochman are old friends and from a conversation several years ago comes ATP's next production the world premiere of Perfect Life. ATP is proud to announce a magnificent cast for Perfect Life. Leading off in the role of Art is Daniel Cline (Carrie: the musical, Forever Plaid, The Rocky Horror Show, Bending Broadway). He is joined by Alicia Cornwell (Dogfight, Bare) in the role of Mary Kay/Adelle. Emily Christine Smith ([title of show], bare) and newcomer Dalton Hutto will be seen in the roles of Karma and Doc. Filling out the cast are the three voices, played by Nina Amara (Bare), Susannah Crowell (Rocky Horror Show, Bending Broadway, Bare), and Cat Phillips (Bare).
