Unity Theatre brings you the hilarious comedy, Leading Ladies, on the Main Stage from June 1 - June 18, 2017.

In this comedy, two English Shakespearean actors find themselves down on their luck when they hear that an old lady in York, PA, is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews. They resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash, but when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo Falls in love with the old lady's niece, Meg, who's engaged to the local minister!

Leading Ladies had its world premiere at the Alley Theatre in Houston in 2004 and was directed by the author himself, Ken Ludwig. "Ludwig's newest farce is so funny, it will make sophisticated and reasonable men and women of the 21st century cackle till their faces hurt." - Houston Press. "Leading Ladies is consistently funny-indeed, increasingly hilarious as it progresses." - Houston Chronicle.

Carolyn Houston Boone will make her Unity Theatre directing debut with Leading Ladies. Many may remember seeing her onstage as Thelma in the studio production of 'night, Mother.' Carolyn has been an associate professor for acting and directing in the School of Theatre & Dance at the University of Houston for 28 years, and has directed 12 seasons for the Houston Shakespeare Festival.

Unity Theatre patrons will recognize many of the faces brought in for this comedic piece, featuring Justin O'Brien (Chapter Two), Christine Saenz (A Piece of My Heart), Cris Skelton (Scapino!), Actor's Equity performer Celeste Roberts (Steel Magnolias), Jessica Riley (You Never Can Tell), and Alan Hall (The Diary of Anne Frank, and many others). Unity welcomes newcomers Ben McLaughlin and Gabriel Regojo to round out the stellar cast.
