Southampton enters Ethiad Staduim trying to find an identity and salvage a mediocre BPL season, while Manchester City sits in third place trailing league leader Liverpool by four points and just two points off second place Chelsea. The Blues are riding a six match unbeaten streak led by Argentine striker Sergio Agüero and Spanish midfielder David Silva.
Newcastle returns to St. James Park losers of two consecutive matches where they were outscored by a total of seven goals to nil. Manchester United arrives with a two match win streak outscoring their opponents five to nil in those two matches. The re-emergence of Wayne Rooney and Rob Van Persie for The Reds maybe a little too late as they sit ten points away from Champions League qualification and needless to say have any hope of defending their BPL title.
