Widely-used user-generated online encyclopedia Wikipedia has introduced a new feature for fans of musical theatre called WikiProject Musical Theatre, offering willing participants the opportunity to help to create a much more substantial database of information.

WikiProject Musical Theatre intends to "drastically improve the quality of the articles pertaining to Musical theatre throughout Wikipedia," according to the new posting.

Additionally, besides all about musicals themselves - including their creators, stars and production history - the new database purportedly intends to eventually include venue information, movie musicals, operettas, operas and more.

Additionally, a three-point goal list is included, stating the following of WikiProject Musical Theatre's future plans:

  1. "To promote interaction, cooperation, and communication among those interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of musical theatre.
  2. To improve the quality of the articles on musical theatre to Featured Article status.
  3. To make Wikipedia the foremost compendium on the subject of musical theatre to be found on the Internet."

Of note, BroadwayWorld is counted among the five primary external sources utilized for this extensive new project.
