'Wicked' Star Cates Hosts New Voices Tonight, 4/14

 The fourth season of the acclaimed Monday Nights, New Voices series continues April 14th at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre.

The series, produced by composer Scott Alan, showcases some of today's brightest 'New Voices' in New York. 

The April 14th concert will be hosted by Wicked's Kristy Cates and will include performances by Shauna Goodgold, Josh Howell, Melissa Lyons, John Myers and Sarah Statler

.Jonathan Larson Award Winners, Brian Lowdermilk and Kait Kerrigan, will serve as the evenings special guest composer and lyricist.  Lowdermilk will accompany the performers on songs from their songbook. 

The evening will be musically directed by Barbara Anselmi, who will also accompany the New Voices.

Kristy Cates made her Broadway debut in the ensemble of Wicked, where she was also the standby for the role of Elphaba. She played that role for a year in the Chicago production of Wicked and also starred in the Toronto engagement of the hit musical. Off-Broadway the singer-actress was seen in Boobs! The Musical, and her regional credits include john and jen and Into the Woods. A graduate of the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Cates also took part in an evening of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Unexpected Songs at Joe's Pub.

Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk made their Off-Broadway debut with their musical Henry and Mudge at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, now on its 4th national tour. Their newest musical The Freshman Experiment is being written online at www.thefreshmanexperiment.com. Other musicals include Wrong Number (NYMF 2005), The Woman Upstairs (NYMF 2004) and the upcoming The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, and Tales from the Bad Years.
