Rees, currently starring in The Visit opposite Chita Rivera, has also appeared on Broadway in The Winslow Boy, The Addams Family, Uncle Vanya, The Rehearsal, Indiscretions, The Red Shoes, London Assurance and more. He was nominated for Best Direction of a Play for Peter and the Starcatcher in 2012 and won the Tony for Best Actor in 1982 for The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby. Among his off-Broadway credits are Trumbo: Red White and Blacklisted, A Man of No Importance, The Uneasy Chair and The End of the Day. Rees also directed off-Broadway's Treemonisha, Here Lies Jenny (for which he wrote the book), Arms and the Man, and Mud, River, Stone.
