Vineyard to Present Special Late Night Red Carpet Performance of 'Wig Out!' 10/1

Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre will celebrate its season opener, Tarell Alvin McCraney's new play WIG OUT! and honor New York's ball scene with "The Stunt and Show," a one-night-only event featuring red-carpet arrivals and a 9pm performance of WIG OUT! on Wednesday, October 1, at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street).
 
Beginning at 8pm, theatergoers will be invited to show off their unique style on The Vineyard's Red Carpet runway prior to attending the special late-night 9pm performance of WIG OUT!
 
To honor New York's ball children, playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney -- whose experiences in and around the drag house scene helped create the play -- has extended a special invite to all the kidz "who inspired all the magic that happens on The Vineyard stage" to represent their houses for this one-night-only event.
 
Set nearly twenty years after Madonna's "Vogue" topped music charts and "Paris Is Burning" filled movie theaters, WIG OUT! is a fierce and intoxicating new play that tells of two competing drag houses and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart.
 
The cast of WIG OUT! includes Daniel T. Booth (a.k.a. Sweetie), Joshua Cruz, Glenn Davis, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Erik King, and Clifton Oliver.
 
WIG OUT! is directed by Tina Landau, who directed The Vineyard Theatre's acclaimed productions of Mary Rose and DREAM TRUE, and most recently Tracy Letts' SUPERIOR DONUTS at Steppenwolf.
 
The new play has scenic design by James Schuette; costume design by Toni-Leslie James; lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski; sound design by Robert Kaplowitz; and hair, wig and make-up design by Wendy Parson.
 
There will be modified seating for The Vineyard's production of WIG OUT!. The stage will be reconfigured to create the world of the show, including a runway that stretches into the audience and on-stage seating.
 
On October 1, WIG OUT!'s STUNT AND SHOW begins with Red Carpet arrivals at 8pm, curtain at 9pm.
 
Performances of WIG OUT! are set to run through October 19. Regular performance schedule is Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $55. A limited number of $25 rush seats will be available for "The Stunt and Show," on October 1 only, at the box office for theatergoers in drag.
