Princeton's famed Triangle Club will pay homage to the American Master of the Macabre, poet and author Edgar Allan Poe, to mark the occasion of his 200th birthday, with its newest show Stark Raven Mad! Presented on the Matthews stage of McCarter Theatre, performances will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 14 and 15 at 8 pm.
With original music and lyrics by Princeton's best and brightest, this year's all-new musical-comedy extravaganza tells a theatrical tale that weaves in many of Poe's most famous works, including the bone-chilling The Tell-Tale Heart and his most famous poem, The Raven.Behind the scenes of a production presenting a panoply of Poe, the properties master makes a petrifying pronouncement: that big black bird planned for Poe's premier poem has been purloined. While the show-within-the-show must go on, our heroes are off on a song and dance filled escapade that's a real howl. Can romance survive the madcap race to replace the missing raven? Will Triangle's infamous all-guy kickline exhort old Edgar Allan to arise from his grave? One this is certain: Stark Raven Mad! will have audiences laughing to death!Following the success of last year's production of A Turnpike Runs Through It, the highly skilled team of professionals return for Stark Raven Mad! director Glen Pannell '87, choreographer Hans Kriefall '87, music director Peter Mills '95 (recipient of the 3rd annual Fred Ebb Award), and costume designer David Kaley'97 – all Triangle Club alum!Videos
