AudienceView has just announced that Mirvish Productions has launched AVTiki, the company's unique distribution channel for social ticketing through Facebook. Theatregoers can visit Mirvish Productions' Facebook page to purchase tickets for Andrew Lloyd Webber's new production of The Wizard of Oz. Mirvish is the world's first theatrical Production Company to offer ticket sales and reservations for friends in a single transaction without leaving Facebook.

"Friends recommending shows and influencing each other to make purchases through social media illustrates the way in which ticketing has evolved – from a model of business-to-consumer to business-to-consumer-to consumer"

"Fans of The Wizard of Oz are interacting with each other on Facebook and cheering on their favourite Dorothy as young actresses from across the country compete for the highly coveted role in a reality television series," said David Mirvish, Producer of Mirvish Productions. "AVTiki empowers Mirvish to provide true social ticketing in that patrons can move seamlessly from our online community to the ticketing environment and complete a purchase without ever leaving Facebook. The technology's unique 'buy and reserve' feature is especially appealing because it allows families, friends and fans to book seats together without one person having to pay for the entire block of tickets. AVTiki also makes it possible for us to reach a much wider audience, including the younger Facebook generation that spends a great deal of time socializing digitally."

AVTiki is the world's first and only fully integrated Facebook ticketing and reservation service. It leverages the tremendous potential of social media commerce in that Facebook users never have to leave the Facebook network to complete their transactions. Its 'buy and reserve' feature allows users to offer immediate value to their friends by reserving tickets. Friends then log in and purchase those seats using their own credit card and a unique reservation code. Information can also be shared immediately with Facebook friends.

"Friends recommending shows and influencing each other to make purchases through social media illustrates the way in which ticketing has evolved – from a model of business-to-consumer to business-to-consumer-to consumer," said Kevin Kimsa, Chair and CEO of AudienceView. "The rapid adaptation of smart phones, iPads and other intelligent devices is driving the transition, but it is critical that consumers have the ability to motivate friends in real time, in their mediums of choice, to easily complete transactions. AVTiki is providing this capability to Mirvish and other market leaders in Europe, Asia and North America."

The Wizard of Oz begins its run in December 2012 at the Ed Mirvish Theatre (formerly The Canon) in Toronto. A casting search to find a new star to play Dorothy is underway on Over The Rainbow, a reality series produced in cooperation with CBC Television. The actress for this iconic role will be chosen by viewers voting in the nationwide search.

A client since 2005, Mirvish Productions uses AudienceView's integrated, CRM-based ticketing and ecommerce platform to power TicketKing, the official ticketing operation of the Mirvish Theatres.
