In light of the terrible mass shooting in Orlando this morning at an LGBTQ Night Club, Tony-winning Costume Designer William Ivey Long has designed a special ribbon for Tonys presenters, nominees, and guests to wear in order to show solidarity with victims and their families.

NY1 hosts Frank DiLella, Donna Karger, and Patrick Pacheco donned the silver ribbons on the network's Red Carpet coverage, and many of the evening's honorees are expected to wear them as well.

Inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in 2005, Long has designed over 70 Broadway productions, been nominated for 15 Tony Awards, and won 6. A short list of other memorable shows includes the recent revival of On the Twentieth Century, Bullets Over Broadway, the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Cabaret,Grey Gardens, The Boy from Oz, Crazy For You, Six Degrees of Separation, Lend Me a Tenor, and Young Frankenstein. He enjoys a special working relationship with director/choreographer Susan Stroman, with whom he has collaborated on a dozen Broadway shows. He has also worked with her at New York City Ballet, and on the Metropolitan Opera's production of The Merry Widow. In addition, he has worked with choreographers Twyla Tharp, Peter Martins, Paul Taylor, and David Parsons, among others. Most recently, Long was costume designer for FOX's highly acclaimed live telecast of Grease.
