Broadway's Tituss Burgess plays struggling actor and singer Titus Andromedon in Netflix's hit comedy series UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT. In a new interview with Deadline, the actor talks about portraying the eccentric character and also reveals he is currently writing a musical of his own based on a Whitney Houston film.

"I thought to myself, either it's going to live in a world where no one gets it or it's going to live in a world where everyone accepts it right away and we have lots of fun," says Burgess of his fictional alter ego.

He also reveals that he is currently calling on his Broadway roots to bring a new stage project to fruition. "I'm writing a musical with Rick Elice (Jersey Boys)," he teases, "collaborating on a musical based on a popular Whitney Houston film. And it's not The Bodyguard."

Unfortunately, Burgess gave no further details on the project. Which film do you think it may be?

He originated the role of Sebastian in the musical The Little Mermaid in 2007 and went on to the role of Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the revival of Guys and Dolls in 2009. Recently, Burgess played the Witch in Into the Woods in a 2015 production with Miami's DREAMCATCHER Theatre Company.
