Today is #LoveTheatre Day in the UK and beyond. Run in partnership by the Guardian Culture Professionals Network, Twitter UK and CultureThemes, #LoveTheatre day is an "online celebration of British, European and global theatre," recognizing the work of theatres and theatre-lovers worldwide.

The Guardian explains, "In a time of deep funding cuts, imbalances in funding and company closures, this initiative presents an opportunity for theatres to shout about the great work they do, reach wider audiences and make contacts and collaborate with other venues and stage companies from across the world. We want #LoveTheatre day to drive active engagement throughout the theatre community in the lead up to the busy festive season."

Throughout the day, participating theatres will also use the sub-hashtags #BackStage, #AskATheatre, and #Showtime to share behind-the-scenes details with their audiences.
