The Rolling Stones Cancel Concert Following Tragic Death of L'Wren Scott

The New York Times reports that The Rolling Stones have canceled the opening concert of the band's six-concert Australian tour in Perth scheduled for Wednesday, March 19th. The cancellation follows the shocking death of fashion designer L'Wren Scott, the girlfriend of the band's singer, Mick Jagger.

An announcement posted on the touring company's Facebook page, as well as one on the band's web page, , announced only the Perth concert as canceled, adding: "No further information is available at this time," and asking ticket holders to retain their tickets.

L'Wren Scott, was found dead this morning in her Manhattan apartment by her assistant. The NY Daily News reports that police sources said it is an apparant suicide. The 47-year-old was found hanging from a scarf on a doorknob at her 200 11th Ave. apartment after she texted her assistant early in the morning asking her to come over. When she arrived around 10 a.m., she discovered Scott and called 911.

Jagger made a statement through a spokesperson saying he is "completely shocked and devastated by the news" of her death.

No foul play is suspected and no suicide not has been found.

Scott started her career as a model in Paris after graduating high school, posing for high end labels like Thierry Mugler and Chanel. She then moved to California in the early '90s and became a successful stylist. Scott eventually launched her own fashion brand in 2006. Many high profile faces have been seen wearing her designs like First Lady Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker, Reese Witherspoon, Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman.
