The JazzTime Band swings with Band Members Don Shelton, AlLen Goodman, Larry Holloway and Terry Trotter with new world-class guests that join the band each and every week.

When talented studio and recording musicians who also love jazz combine their talents a kind of synergy happens based on a deep understanding of music that results in a spontaneous musical conversation. Don Shelton vocalized with the Hi-Lo’s and Singers Unlimited and is amazing on clarinet, sax and flute. He recently played with Barbara Cook and the LA Phil. He worked with Clare Fischer in sessions for Prince, Michael Jackson and Robert Palmer, plus the Clare Fischer Latin Jazz Quintet and Bob Florence band. Drummer AlLen Goodman brings years of experience from NY’s supper clubs to Carnegie Hall to NBC TV as a performer and studio drummer, as well as accompanying singers such as Dinah Shore, Johnny Mathis, Peggy Lee, Liza Minnelli, Vikki Carr, Bobby Troup, Billie Holiday & others. Larry Holloway has a unique approach to bass as exemplified by virtuoso bassist Red Mitchell and, in fact, was the first recipient of the “Red Mitchell Scholarship Award.” Regular pianists such as Terry Trotter, Chip Smith, Andy Langham, Joe Bagg, Jeff Colella and others bring their distinctive musical gifts to the group. Each performance is a singular thing, a shared afternoon of the magic of jazz.

On December 9, Bill Jones will join the band with Terry Trotter on piano. Best known from his recurring role on the hit TV show GLEE as 'Rod Remington,' Bill A. Jones is also an in-demand singer who swings in the tradition of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin & others. Bill recently had the honor of opening for Tony Bennett at St. Jude's Hospital's 50th Anniversary Fund Raiser. Bill's first CD, "Frankly" was released in 2010, and is now joined by his new release, "I've Heard That Song, Big Band Songbook," with tunes first made famous by the orchestras of Glenn Miller, Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey, and others.

Other Upcoming Guests:

Sherry Williams with Hal Linden - November 18, 2012
From the age of 16 when she toured with The Young Americans and later as a member of Disneyland Kids of the Kingdom, Sherry Williams has rarely been out of work. Her busy career has included TV appearances (Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Glen Campbell Show, The Tom Jones Show, The Della Reese Show, Soul Train and others), film, recording sessions, nightclubs, festivals and concert tours, including tours with Andy Gibb, and the legendary Johnnie Ray. When you listen to her you realize immediately that she is a consummate artist - the real thing. Williams is what they called in the old days a storyteller - she paints pictures with words. Yet she bridges the gap between the past and the present.

Betty Bryant with Chip Smith on piano - November 25, 2012
Dubbed “Cool Miss B” by her fellow musicians, Betty’s career started in Kansas City, where she was mentored by the great Jay McShann, Grammy nominee and the originator of the “Kansas City Sound.” A famous photograph of Betty with Jay McShann hangs in the American Jazz Museum in Kansas City. She has performed internationally and just this year was featured at the Boquete Jazz and Blues Festival in Boquete, Panama. She’s been popular in LA since the 1950’s and the “Betty Bryant Birthday Bash” is a hugely popular event in Hollywood at the famed Catalina’s Jazz Club.

Dolores Scozzesi with Andy Langham on piano - December 2, 2012
“It’s the voice that grabs you to begin with. A rich contralto with edge, snapping from molten serenity to a predatory growl in a single phrase, and a timbre that makes you want to place your hands on the speakers just so you can capture something of its individuality.” “Her voice is almost intoxicating—a “tasty” combination of intense passion, vulnerability and warm breathiness.” -Cabaret Scene. “Whenever the names of legendary vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Edith Piaf are used to describe a new singer, it's clear that there's something special about that artist. Dolores Scozzesi is one such artist, and her unique Mezzo-soprano voice separates her from the plethora of female jazz vocalist dotting the landscape these days.” -E. Blanco 88.9 FM
