'The Color of Hate' Explores Racial Conflicts

An African-American married man has a one-night fling with a white woman in 1960s Atlanta. The affair produces a biracial child and ends with the death of the child's mother. This is the story of Wilma Blair-Reed's new novel, "The Color of Hate" (published by iUniverse), which brings issues of racial equality and hate crime to the forefront.
Main characters Doris and Shaun McDaniel are a black couple living the American dream in the 1960s. Shaun is a successful financier and Doris is an educator. Even though they have two children and a happy home, they are confronted by problems of racial discrimination and marital turmoil.
When Doris suspects her husband could be having an affair, she fears his infidelity may be happening with a white woman named Kathleen - a woman of racial background Doris despises.
Doris' premonitions prove true when Kathleen ends up pregnant with Shaun's child. Before Doris can confront her husband about the affair, Kathleen gives birth to the biracial baby girl and is found murdered shortly thereafter.
When the truth is revealed, the answer to the mystery of who killed Kathleen sends shockwaves through the town of Atlanta. Compelling and suspenseful, "The Color of Hate" will leave readers guessing and reflecting upon the issues and implications of racism.
