The Canton Symphony Orchestra's SymphonyLand Series Finale Features BEAR WANTS MORE, 3/26,29

While bear is calling for "more," the Canton Symphony Orchestra will complete its SymphonyLand series on March 26 and 29.

SymphonyLand performances are each unique but tied together by common music and academic concepts that are presented during each session. The educational concepts developed address Ohio Common Core State Standards in Music, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science.

The upcoming sessions feature a brass trio with Bear Wants More. The January and February sessions also used books from the Karma Wilson/Jane Chapman "Bear" book series. The CSO, with sponsorship by the Hoover Foundation, continues its commitment to provide several arts education options for young children.

"What makes these arts education sessions so amazing is that our musicians educate the kids how instruments make sounds, then how those sounds make music, and then how the instruments work together to make a song. And they do it in the context of books with which the kids are likely to be familiar. The kids love the subject matter and interactivity," said Michelle Mullaly, CSO Executive Director.

Performances are open to the public in addition to preschools, public schools, and homeschool groups. There are two performances each day at 10am and 11am.

For those looking for another educational experience, the CSO will perform a Kinder Concert on April 9 at 9:30am and 10:30am. This performance brings all of the instrument families together. Children of all ages will enjoy the program. It will be held in the great court at the Cultural Center for the Arts.

Tickets for the final SymphonyLand concert are $5, available online atwww.CantonSymphony.org, by calling 330-452-2094, at the box office window located inside the Cultural Center for the Arts (weekdays 10am-2pm), or by walk-up. There are group discounts available. Dress is casual and concerts are appropriate for ages 3 and older.
