Tennessee Rep Launches 25th Anniversary Season with 'Nashville Scenes' 7/29

Tennessee Repertory Theatre will launch its 25th anniversary
celebration with Nashville Scenes--featuring staged readings from
The company's upcoming 2009-2010 season and a buffet of hot hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar--on Wednesday, July 29, from 6 to 8 p.m.(CDT) at The Acorn restaurant, 114 28th Avenue North.

Co-sponsored by the Nashville Scene and The Acorn restaurant, tickets are $25 and include hors d'oeuvres and admission to the event. For ticket information and reservations, to to www.tennesseerep.org or call (615) 244-4878.

"The 25th season of Tennessee Rep says so much about two things:  thequality and diligence of Nashville theatre artists and the value thatNashville puts on live professional theatre," said René Copeland, The Rep's producing artistic director. "It is remarkable on both counts, and it makes all of us proud to live in the community we serve. And
we're really looking forward to launching a season of celebration witha party that will share a little taste of upcoming productions with folks who support Tennessee Rep and enjoy live theatre."

Tennessee Rep's 25th Anniversary season features  Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling; A Christmas Story by Phillip Grecian, based on the motion picture by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark; David Auburn's Proof; and Big River:  The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, music and lyrics by Roger Miller and book by William Hauptman, based on the classic novel by Mark Twain

Among actors featured in Nashville Scenes are Shane Bridges, Brooke Bryant, Ruth Cordell, Anna Felix, Henry Haggard, Mary Jane Harvill, Denice Hicks, Andy Kanies, Bakari King, Eric D. Pasto-Cosby, Carrie Tillis, Peter Vann, Patrick Waller, Samuel Whited, David Wilkerson and Bobby Wyckoff.

Nashville Scenes will give audience members an opportunity to meet actors and staff, preview the upcoming Rep season,and will be the first public announcement of casts for Tennessee Rep's 2009-2010 season.

Since 1985, Tennessee Repertory Theatre has been a critically acclaimed regional theatre, creating  professional productions and by serving as a cultural, educational, and economic resource within the Nashville and Middle Tennessee communities.
