The God Box: A Daughter's Story, performed by acclaimed author Mary Lou Quinlan based on her bestselling book, will play the Cherry Lane Theater (38 Commerce Street) on Monday March 3rd at 7PM as a benefit performance for Gilda's Club NYC. Based on Mary Lou Quinlan's New York Times' bestselling book, The God Box, Sharing my mother's gift of faith, love and letting go, the performance explores the laughter and tears of a family in love, in loss, and in triumph. Quinlan is donating 100% of the night's proceeds to Gilda's Club NYC, the free cancer support program founded in memory of comedian Gilda Radner, who died of ovarian cancer in 1989. The God Box: A Daughter's Story is co-written and directed by Martha Wollner of the LAByrinth Theater Company.

In a statement, Quinlan said: "Cancer took both my parents and I have had breast cancer myself. I have learned that cancer can be so isolating which is why I love the Gilda's Club mantra 'Come as you are' helping members with cancer with support and open arms. So it seemed right to dedicate all ticket proceeds of this show about love and letting go to an organization that lives this philosophy every day."

The book and the play reveal a true story of a discovery Quinlan made after the devastating loss of her mother: private boxes of scribbled letters to God-- written by the very hand that has slipped away. These tiny notes, asking for everything from the right flooring for her daughter's new home to a cure for her own blood cancer, lure Quinlan on a journey to the ultimate human challenge: learning to "let go".

VIP tickets are $48 and include premier seating and a copy of Quinlan's book, general tickets are $25. A wine reception and book signing will follow the performance. Information and tickets are available online by visiting www.gildasclubnyc.org.

Lily Safani, CEO of GCNYC, states "Mary Lou is an incredible performer and her play is very moving. We are honored that she has chosen Gilda's Club to benefit from her performance."

Mary Lou Quinlan is a nationally recognized inspirational speaker, marketing expert, women's advocate and author of four books including The God Box.
