Stiles & Drewe, BOOK OF MORMON's Gavin Creel and More Set for Charing Cross Theatre's SINGULAR SENSATIONS Series

Edward Seckerson - former presenter of BBC Radio 3's long-running musical theatre show Stage and Screen continues to host a series of in-depth encounters with the stars of musical theatre at London's Charing Cross Theatre.

Through a mix of chat, recordings and live performances Seckerson traced the careers and uncovered the working processes of talented artists such as Kerry Ellis, Howard Goodall, Janie Dee, Jenna Russell, John Wilson, and Patricia Routledge during the highly successful inaugural autumn run which quickly became a regular Sunday afternoon fixture for musical theatre enthusiasts.

This spring, Seckerson continues in equally talented company. Today it's revealed that dynamic musical theatre song writing partnership George Stiles and Anthony Drewe (Betty Blue Eyes, Just So, Honk!) will treat theatre fans to a selection of classic tracks, and brand new, never previously performed songs. The magic of the material - past and present - will be brought to life by a wealth of West End guest performers including X Factor finalist Cassie Compton, Anna Jane Casey, Michael Jibson and Caroline Sheen. Stiles and Drewe appear on Sunday March 9th at 3pm.

In a further coup for this spring's season is the announcement of Gavin Creel who originated the role of Elder Price in the US national tour of The Book of Mormon, a role he continues in the West End smash-hit production. His London depiction most recently scooped him the London 2014 What's On Stage Award for Leading Actor In a Musical. He joins Seckerson in the intimate surroundings of the Charing Cross Theatre on April 20th at 3pm to discuss a career which also includes West End credits for Hair and Mary Poppins and two Tony Award nods for his Stateside performances in Thoroughly Modern Millie and Hair. He will appear in conversation illustrating highlights of his career with the help of a selection of recordings. This is a charity event in support of Gavin's nominated charity West End Serves.

STILES AND DREWE: In their 30-year collaboration, the multi-award winning team of George Stiles and Anthony Drewe have written the musicals: BETTY BLUE EYES, SOHO CINDERS, HONK!, JUST SO, PETER PAN - A MUSICAL ADVENTURE, TUTANKHAMUN and the new songs, dance and vocal arrangements for the world-wide smash-hit Cameron Mackintosh/Disney production of MARY POPPINS. With lyricist Paul Leigh, George has composed the musicals: MOLL FLANDERS, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, and TOM JONES, and his other work includes the music for Sam Mendes' TWELTH NIGHT and UNCLE VANYA (Donmar Warehouse and BAM), He is currently writing a new dance drama with choreographer Drew McOnie based on Oscar Wilde's short story, THE STAR CHILD.

Anthony's other musicals are: THE CARD (with composer Tony Hatch) and A TWIST OF FATE (with composer Dick Lee). He and George also contributed songs for the RSC's world-wide hit THE SHAKESPEARE REVUE.

Stiles and Drewe's awards include: Olivier Award for Best New Musical (HONK!), Eliot Norton Award for Outstanding Musical Production (HONK!), and a host of awards for MARY POPPINS around the world. George & Anthony are founding board-members of Mercury Musical Developments, a charitable organisation that nurtures new musical writing in the UK, which also awards the annual Stiles and Drewe Prize for a new song written for the musical stage.

EDWARD SECKERSON: Host EDWARD SECKERSON is formerly Chief Classical Music Critic of The Independent. He is a writer, broadcaster, podcaster, and musical theatre obsessive. He wrote and presented the long-running BBC Radio 3 series Stage & Screen, in which he interviewed many of the biggest names in the business - among them Julie Andrews, Angela Lansbury, Liza Minnelli, Stephen Sondheim and Andrew Lloyd Webber. During his journalistic career he has written for most major music publications and is still on the panel of Gramophone magazine. He appears regularly on BBC Radio 3 and 4 and presented the 2007 series of the musical quiz Counterpoint. On television, he has commentated a number of times at the Cardiff Singer of the World competition. He has published books on Mahler and the conductor Michael Tilson Thomas. Edward conducted one of the last major interviews with Leonard Bernstein and his audio podcast Sondheim - In Good Company proved a significant contribution to Sondheim's 80th birthday year. He is currently touring with Patricia Routledge in Facing the Music, a show chronicling her little known career in musical theatre.
