Steve Barton became known to theatregoers for originating the role of Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End production of 'The Phantom Of The Opera' in 1986. He later went on to star as the Phantom in the Broad-way production in 1990. Most of his career was spent in Europe where he starred in 'Cats', 'Beauty And The Beast' and the phenomenally successful 'Tanz Der Vampire'.

Tragi-cally, Steve passed away in July 2001 at the age of 47. Steven Neal Barton was born on June 26, 1954 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, United States, as youngest from 3 children of Tom and Mary Barton.

He grew up in Nederland, Texas. Later he won a scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin, where he majored in theater, dance and singing, appearing in over 30 productions with the University ofTexas and with the Ballet of Austin.

Barton relocated to Europe, getting his first job at St. Gallen, Switzerland andthen playing in major Swiss, German and Austrian theatre companies. He played Graf von Krolock until January 17, 1999 in Vienna.

In 1997 Steve Barton celebrated his 30-year onstage anniversary during his run as von Krolock. ‘Tanz derVampire' was also the last musical in which Steve Bartonstood on a stage. This compendium of songs showcases Steve Barton as asong stylist performing material from the musicals 'Someone Like You' and 'Emma', his final recordings.

Steve's love for Brel is represented in his interpretations of 'If You GoAway', 'The Port Of Amsterdam' and 'Jackie' alongside familiar Cole Porter classics such as 'It's Delovely' and 'Begin The Beguine'. This very special collection of unreleased recordings appropriately concludes with a song written and performedby his son Edward in a tribute to this father.
