An exciting new series of intimate chamber music performances - presents the next salon on March 11, where they will present Gordon Beeferman's beautiful song cycleThe In-Between, set to poetry of Jane Barnes, composed for Laurie Rubin. Gordon, Jane and Laurie will be there in person to discuss this work and their process of collaboration.

Also part of the March 11 salon is Johannes Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes -- love songs and folk poetry set for vocal quartet and piano, four hands. These sweet and special songs have been a staple of friendship and chamber music since they were first performed in 1870.

St Urban combines old and new repertoire to bring listeners and musicians into a shared dialogue on musical ideas and inspirations. To shape each concert season, St Urban explores themes that spark conversation and sets music against a specific context. Each season begins with three salon-style concerts and culminates with a public premiere of a chamber music commission and Q&A with the composer.

This season investigates text and song, asking performers and audiences "how does a composer draw inspiration from poetry?" The season's final concert will take place at downtown SubCulture on May 9 and debut a newly commissioned work by Syrian-born composer and clarinetist, Kinan Azmeh, to perform chosen texts by contemporary Syrian poets living in exile.
