Savion Glover Presents 'Jammin' with the Masters' at The Blue Note, 11/17 - 11/22

Tony Award-winning choreographer and internationally celebrated tap dancer Savion Glover will perform in a series of concerts, Jammin' With the Masters, at The Blue Note in November. He will appear on stage with legendary jazz improvisers McCoy Tyner (November 17), Roy Haynes (November 18), Eddie Palmieri (November 19), and Jack DeJohnette (November 21-22). A co-performer for the November 20 performance has yet to be announced.  On each night, the performances will be held at 8pm & 10:30pm.

Glover is hosting this concert series in an effort to reintroduce tap and jazz into the same performance space.

Glover is best known for his Tony Award-winning choreography and starring role in Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk.  Additional Broadway credits include: The Tap Dance Kid (at age 12), Black and Blue, and Jelly's Last Jam. He made his film debut in 1989's Tap co-starring with Gregory Hines and Sammy Davis, Jr. In 1990, he joined the cast of the children's television series Sesame Street and stayed on the show until 1995. He also starred in Spike Lee's 2000 film Bamboozled and appeared with Barbra Streisand in her "Timeless" tour.  Most recently he served as co-choreographer and central motion-capture dancer for the role of the penguin Mumble, the main character in the animated release Happy Feet. He is currently in a production called "Classical Savion", where he taps to classical pieces played by a chamber string group.
