STILL AWAKE STILL Cabaret for Kids to Run 1/18-20 at New Vic

With a wild mix of music, comedy and visual theater, Still Awake Still! is a fabulously entertaining cabaret for kids making its U.S. premiere at The New Victory Theater from January 18-20, 2014. Based on the much-loved songs from the children's bedtime book I'm Still Awake, Still! by author Elizabeth Honey and composer Sue Johnson, Still Awake Still! was commissioned by the Sydney Opera House and premiered at the Arts Centre Melbourne.

Getting kids to sleep can be a challenging daily ritual, but not for Miss Ivory Tinklefinger! With nothing but a great, grand piano and her sweet singing voice, the famous Queen of Sleep can calm the rowdiest of children. But one day - much to her dismay and to the audience's delight - her piano produces more than just notes! Strikingly original and fantastically funny, Still Awake Still! is the creation of Jessica Wilson, the former artistic director of Tasmania's Terrapin Theatre, and Melbourne's Jump Leads, a non-profit arts company.

Brought to life by Carolyn Connors as Miss Ivory Tinklefinger, Renato Vacirca as Gypsy Boy, Dan Witton as Bass Boy and a recorded voiceover by Philip Norman, Still Awake Still! is directed by Wilson, who also wrote the work in collaboration with Jim Lasko and with input from the entire creative team. Sue Johnson is the composer and musical director, Elizabeth Honey is the lyricist and Julianne O'Brien is the dramaturg. The show's design is by Jonathan Oxlade and the lighting design is by Philip Lethlean with Steph Cox as the tour and stage manager and Sam Doyle as the technical manager.
