The Screen Actors Guild Foundation has awarded $400,000 in John L. Dales Scholarships to 109 SAG-AFTRA performers and their children ranging from $1750 to $4000 for study at accredited institutions of higher learning for the 2013-2014 school year.

"The SAG Foundation fully supports all levels of education" said JoBeth Williams, President of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation. "With the rising cost of higher education, we are dedicated to giving out as many John L. Dales Scholarships as possible every year to our deserving union members and their families."

"I would like to express how grateful and honored I feel to be the recipient of a John L. Dales scholarship," said one of this year's freshman recipients. "I am deeply appreciative of the support as attending [college] has been a stretch for my family. As I pack my red suitcase and load up the van, I treasure this support."

The John L. Dales Scholarship Fund was established in 1973 to honor John L. Dales who served as the Screen Actors Guild Executive Secretary for 37 years. Since the commencement of the Dales Fund, more than six million dollars has been awarded to 1532 union performers and their children who are beginning their college journey or returning to further their higher education.
