According to The Popcorn Board, Americans consume 16 billion quarts of popcorn every year. Popcorn is clearly one of America's favorite foods, but how many Americans know the history of this popular treat? John (Jack) Podojil addresses just that in his new book, "Popcorn Favorites: Everything You Want to Know About Popcorn and More" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Part history book, part trivia guide and part cookbook, "Popcorn Favorites" presents folklore surrounding popcorn, facts about popcorn and a selection of recipes. There are even sections dedicated to popcorn-related crafts and school projects.

Most consumers might believe there isn't much to learn about popcorn, but how many know that there are different types of popcorn, including white, yellow, red, blue, Hopi blue, black, and calico? Additionally, most consumers probably eat their popcorn just as it comes out of the bag. Podojil's recipe section offers a variety ways of spicing up the traditional bag of popcorn: almond honey popcorn, apple cinnamon popcorn, bayou popcorn, and buffalo-style popcorn, to name a few.

"Popcorn Favorites" is an ideal book great book for anyone interested in learning more about an often-consumed but seldom-considered food.
