Photo Flash: Stillman and Ebersole at the Cutting Room

Two-time Tony Award nominee Bob Stillman, one of the current stars of the new hit Broadway musical Grey Gardens, performed an evening of his original music at The Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street) on Monday, November 27 at 7:30 PM.
Stillman performed the one-night-only event on his night off from Grey Gardens. In the musical, he plays George Gould Strong, the boozy accompanist and confidante of real-life society matron Edith Bouvier Beale. Joining him on stage as a special guest that evening was the acclaimed leading lady of Grey Gardens, Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole, who sang two of Stillman's original numbers.
While known primarily as an acclaimed singer/actor for his performances in such Broadway productions as Dirty Blonde (Tony nomination, Jefferson Award), Grand Hotel, Kiss of the Spider Woman (opposite Vanessa Williams) and Souvenir, Stillman is also an accomplished and Tony-nominated songwriter. He studied piano at Juilliard and composition at Princeton (and yes, he's actually playing the piano on stage in Grey Gardens). "Those who only know him from his stage work will be able to experience another side of his creative life, as his music and lyrics have been influenced by writers like Joni Mitchell and Randy Newman, as well as by classical, jazz and blues musical traditions," state press materials.Stillman and Ebersole were joined on stage by Tim McLafferty on drums, Ken Hitchcock on sax, Dan Urness on trumpet and Ray Kilday on bass.
