In celebration of its fifty-year history of producing new American plays, The Public Theater presented two free readings series: New Work Now!, an annual series that showcases new work from emerging and established artists, and New Work Then!, a special series that features ten landmark plays that were developed at The Public Theater, headed by Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. New Works Now! ended on September 18th, while New Works Then! wrapped up on October 3rd.

As part of the New Works Then! series, Estelle Parsons starred in a reading of Roberto Athayde's solo play Miss Margarida's Way on Monday, October 3rd at 7 PM. Parsons performed the title role of an "8th grade teacher who is every child's wish and nightmare."
