On Thursday, February 14, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and wife Jamie joined hundreds of Brooklyn sweethearts who have been married to one another for 50 years or more, including Kings County District Attorney Charles "Joe" Hynes and bride Patricia, who will celebrate a half century of wedded bliss this October. The celebration at El Caribe Country Club also featured the couples renewing their wedding vows.

In addition to enjoying a champagne toast, the "newlyweds" danced to the songs of their youth and capped off the festivities with wedding cake and sugar free treats. This year's gathering was the eleventh hosted by BP Markowitz, who happens to celebrate his birthday on Valentine's Day and found the love of his life right here in Brooklyn when he met Jamie in the summer of 1999 on the beach at Kingsborough College. They were married at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden that November.
