Photo Coverage: Rubén Flores and Jana Martinez Concert

From October 5th through 7th, Rubn Flores and Jana Martinez performed "Pensando en Ti (Thinking of You)" at the Metropolitan Room.

"For the first time, Rubn Flores & Jana Martnez will sing together...Join them for passion-filled nights of romantic music from Latin America," stated press notes. The evening was directed by Lennie Watts, with musical direction by Steven Ray Watkins. The band comprised Watkins on piano, Matt Wigton on bass and Fred Kennedy on drums.

Flores is Backstage's 2004 Bistro Award Winner as an "Outstanding Performer on the Rise," and the recipient of the Sergio Franchi Musical Scholarship since 2001. He has made numerous stage and television appearances in both his home country of Mexico and the US, including "One Life to Live," and "As the World Turns." Musical appearances include Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Cats, Grease, and other major productions.Also a recordingartist, hemade his New York stage debut in 2005 in the New York Shakespeare Festival's Two Gentlemen of Verona, and also appeared in the musical Kingdom.

Martnezhas appeared in several theatrical productions not only in Mexico but also in the United States and Canada. Some of these include Pippin, Haiku,and the concerts "Msica entre Tres" and "Olor a Guayaba," for which she was very well received by the Miami press. She has also performed as a principal cast member in Telemundo's primetime soap operas "Prisionera"and "Anita no te Rajes."

Ben Strothmann Ben Strothmann has been a portrait and theatrical photographer since 1995. Since building his first darkroom in his hometown of Milwaukee WI, his portrait studio now looks out over Manhattan where he shoots headshots and production photos. Born to a famous cheesecake lady (Suzy Strothmann of Suzy's Cream Cheesecakes), Ben is also an actor and pianist. Currently he lives in Astoria and studies guitar and Icelandic.
