Alaskan playwright Arlitia Jones makes her debut at Perseverance Theatre with her new play Rush at Everlasting. Rush at Everlasting is now showing on the Perseverance Theatre Mainstage Jan. 10 - Feb. 2, 2014.

Against the backdrop of the 1930s, two women who have fallen on hard times make plans to rob a bank. While newsreels of the time tell of economic disaster and larger-than-life outlaws, the women dream about what money will buy and what stories they will tell. Real names and real lives are left behind as each character makes a run at immortality and becoming a legend. Watch how time shifts the hopes and dreams of outlaws with this poetic new play. From the mind and heart of Alaskan playwright Arlitia Jones, Perseverance Theatre presents the world premiere of Rush at Everlasting.
Arlitia Jones is a playwright, poet and director, as well as co-founder of TossPot Productions in Anchorage, Alaska. Her latest full length play, Come to me, Leopards, had a workshop production in October 2013 at Cyrano's Theatre in Anchorage. Her play Rush at Everlasting received a reading with the Northwest Playwrights' Alliance at the
Seattle Repertory Theatre in Spring 2012, at The Lark Play Development Center in New York City in 2013 and a full production at Perseverance Theatre in Juneau, Alaska in January 2014, and Anchorage in February 2014. Her short play, Tornado, was just selected as a winner in the 38th Annual Samuel French OOB Short Play Festival in New York City in July 2013. She is the recipient of an Individual Artists Fellowship from the Rasmuson Foundation. Jones is also a playwright in residence with the
Seattle Repertory Theatre for 2013-2014 season. Jones has also been selected as a writer in residence at both Hedgebrook and Djerassi Resident Artists Program in 2014. Along with Cyrano's Theatre Company, Jones has also been the recipient of a grant from the Alaska State Humanities Forum to write Make Good the Fires in celebration of 50 years of Alaska Statehood. Make Good the Fires was produced in March 2009 at Cyrano's Theatre in Anchorage. Jones traveled to New York City in July 2013 to participate as an emerging playwright in the 2013 Director's Lab at Lincoln Center. You can find more news of her and her writings at

Bostin Christopher, Artistic Associate and Summerfest Producer for Perseverance Theatre, is directing his second play written by Alaskan playwright Arlitia Jones, Rush at Everlasting. Previous directing credits include Arlitia Jones Make Good the Fires (world premiere), Sylvia, The Nerd, The 39 Steps and Betrayal. Mr. Christopher is in his third season on the staff at Perseverance Theatre. He has also acted with the company in numerous roles including Amigos Blue Guitar, A Christmas Carol, Seminar, Of Mice and Men and Treasure Island. Bostin will be producing Perseverance's first annual Summerfest. Summerfest is a six-week festival of three new plays by two Alaskan writers (Luan Schooler and Dave Hunsaker), and the most recent Tony Award-winner for Best Play Vonya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by
Christopher Durang.
A small but powerful group of actors makes up the cast, Charity Pomeroy plays the central character Ruby Gold. Tiffany Nichole Greene plays the fiery Africa Jade, and Tom Robenolt plays
Jim Ryan.
Artistic Director, Art Rotch, designs the set. Lauren
Mackenzie Miller of Anchorage designs lights; Lucy Peckham designs sound, Valerie Snyder designs costumes, and stage management by Nicoline Dawson.
Performances of Rush at Everlasting are 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on the last Sunday (Feb. 2). There are two Pay-As-You-Can Previews on Sunday, Jan. 5 and Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. and two Pay-As-You-Can Performances on Sunday, Jan. 12 and Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
