After a long hiatus, the highly successful and acclaimed PIE (Projects In Education) Story Theatre will return to schools and other venues this fall presenting two programs throughout the New York City Tri-State area. Those programs, Story Theatre and Access Shakespeare will be available through Arts Horizons.

Director E. M. Edwards, who was an original Company Member when PIE first premiered in New York City's Central Park in the summer of 1991, will helm both programs. Cast in the core company are: Molly Mermelstein, Maiya Reaves, Michael Sheehan, Margen Soliman, and Jake Winn. The swings are David Delaney and Jennifer Polansky. Margen Soliman will also serve as Company Manager.

The programming, created by Patrick Riviere (then Artistic Director of The Emerging Artists Project, Inc.) has received accolades from critics, educators and maybe most importantly, children and families! Since its inception, PIE has reached thousands of children and families in a variety of venues from New York to Chicago. PIE is now the educational initiative of All Seasons Theatre Company and recently premiered at Casa 0101 Theater in Los Angeles.

The "Story Theatre" programs are a collection of fairy tales, fables and modern children's literature performed in the Story Theater format inspired by Viola Spolin and Paul Sills and a program Riviere was involved with at ArtPark created by the late Brother Augustine Towey C.M.; a mentor and friend. The program also includes participation stories and highlights the importance of teamwork, family, community and reading as an important component to learning. Access Shakespeare is another PIE program that introduces students to the Bard in a way that is fun and interactive!
