Grammy-nominated organ luminary Cameron Carpenter will perform at Mesa Arts Center, tonight, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Piper Repertory Theater. Known for his eclectic performance style and virtuosic skills, Carpenter is the first organist ever nominated for a Grammy Award for a solo album, and his work in a traditional art form is generating acclaim, exposure and controversy unprecedented for an organist.

His repertoire is diverse and complex, ranging from Bach, Franck and Liszt to hundreds of transcriptions of orchestral, piano and vocal music, film music and jazz, along with original compositions. In March, Carpenter debuted the International Touring Organ, his personal instrument created to overcome the mobility limitations of a traditional pipe organ. The digital organ will allow him to expand his performances to stages throughout the world with much greater ease.

Carpenter is one of the only touring performing artists to make a practice of greeting his audience at the entry point of a concert venue before his performances. The composer-performer is also the 2012 recipient of the coveted Leonard Bernstein Award.

Tickets are available through the Box Office at mesaartscenter.com or by calling 480-644-6500.
