Ocala Symphony Orchestra Opens Concert Season with A BRAVE NEW WORLD, 10/5

Opening weekend of the Ocala Symphony Orchestra's 37th subscription concert season, A Brave New World, will begin with the exploration of America in its early beginnings. Richard Wagner's Christopher Columbus Overture will begin the program.

The highlight of the concert will be when cellist, Kristin Wardell, takes the soloist's seat for William Perry's Jamestown Concerto, a commemoration with cinematic flair. Finally no concert about the new world would be complete without Antonin Dvorak's expansive Symphony No.9: From the New World.

Music Director Matthew Wardell exclaims, "This season's music is powerful, inspiring, and above all will entertain and enrich us. Through the power of music and performance, your orchestra, playing your music, will explore that frontier, discover the unknown, conquer our fears and fulfill our greatest hopes and dreams."

The concerts will be held at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30PM and on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3:00PM. Tickets start at $5 and can be purchased by visiting www.ocalasymphony.com or calling 352.351.1606.
