An Other Theater Company, a small Utah County based company that has previously produced shows at the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival and at the Canyon Glen Amphitheatre, is moving to a permanent blackbox theater space in the Provo Towne Centre mall. There they will continue their mission of producing theatre that is "unique, fresh, empathetic, and inclusive."

While most theatre that is produced in Utah County is created for a family audience, An Other Theatre Company will seek to widen that scope to include works that push the envelope and explore a wider range of the human experience while seeking to stay more in touch with the national theatre scene.

In order to further diversity and inclusiveness in Utah County theatre, An Other Theater Company has decided that, as part of their required season selection process, their 8-show seasons must include at least three plays written by a woman playwright, at least two plays with LGBTQ+ themes or main characters, and at least one play written by an LGBTQ+ playwright.

Their opening season, beginning September 2017 and running through August 2018, will consist of the following shows: -Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike by Christopher Durang -A Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen -Fat Pig by Neil LaBute -Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner -Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello, adapted by Katrina Luthi -Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts -How I Learned to Drive by Paula Vogel -The Drag by Mae West In order to raise the money for the startup costs for this move, they have created a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign where backers can pledge to donate money if the project reaches its goal amount. In exchange for pledging, backers can choose a variety of awards, including tickets to shows in the company's first season, advertising, and even an opportunity to choose a show in their second season lineup.

They need to raise $6900 before the end of their Kickstarter campaign on June 14th, otherwise they will receive none of the pledged money and backers will not be charged. More information can be found on their Kickstarter page (web address below). The artistic directors, Kacey Spadafora and Taylor Jack Nelson, as well as the literary manager, Katrina Luthi, are available for interview or comment about An Other Theater Company and their Kickstarter campaign.
