Nickelodeon Wins Basic Cable's First Quarter of 2013 in Kids

Following its 4Q12 win, Nickelodeon has kicked off 2013 by topping all basic cable with kids and total viewers for 1Q13. Nickelodeon averaged a 2.9/968,000 with kids 2-11 (+7%) and 1.9 million total viewers (+6%). Nickelodeon's top show for the quarter with kids 2-11 is SpongeBob SquarePants (6.3/2.0 million), which is up +7% over last year. Additionally, Nickelodeon posted gains over 4Q12 with K2-11 (2.8/935,000; +12%) and total viewers (1.8 million; +9%).

For 1Q13, Nickelodeon's preschool block also posted double-digit gains and was ahead of its closest competitor, averaging a 4.5/599,000 (+10%) with K2-5.

Nickelodeon closed out the quarter with its star-studded 26th Annual Kids' Choice Awards, which drew 12 million total viewers over its weekend premiere and ranked as the top telecast of the week (3/18-3/24) with kids and tweens across all TV. Hosted by Josh Duhamel, this year's event drew nearly 400 million votes from kids around the globe.
