New Managing Director Comes to Bristol Riverside Theatre

Bristol Riverside Theatre announces the appointment of ANNE S. KOHN as managing director following a national search conducted by Management Consultants for the Arts, Inc.

Anne S. Kohn comes to BRT having just completed her seventh season at Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC. As General Manager she was responsible for managing a $20 million budget, developing an internal communications audit and implementation of a new organization-wide plan, and overseeing company management departments including union relations, licensing contracts and negotiations. Concurrently, for three years she was the founding producing director of No Rules Theatre Company, coordinating all fundraising efforts and marketing plans for productions in both Washington, DC and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Under Kohn's leadership, No Rules Theatre Company was awarded the John Aniello Award for Outstanding Emerging Theatre Company at the 2011 Helen Hayes Awards. An MFA graduate of University of North Carolina School of the Arts she has also worked at Great Lakes Theatre and Cleveland Opera.

"Anne was the unanimous choice of our Search Committee after an extensive national search. As a respected and seasoned professional she brings with her a love of theater and a vast amount of experience that will help us maximize the potential of our expanded presence in Bucks County," said BRT Board Chair Joe Sanginiti.

"I am really thrilled to have Anne join the BRT team, and I know her expertise and enthusiasm will have a wonderful impact on our theater," said Keith Baker, BRT's Artistic Director. "Her proven ability to energize and inspire various constituents - staff, funders, and patrons - will be key to helping BRT expand upon our accomplishments."

BRT opens its 30th Anniversary Season with A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline by Dean Regan on September 27-October 16, followed by Working: A Musical adapted from the book by Studs Terkel and featuring new music by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) onNovember 1-20, Driving Miss Daisy by Alfred Urhy on January 24-February 12, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Jesus Christ Superstar on March 21-April 16 and Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution on May 9-28.

Since 1986, BRT has brought consistently acclaimed professional theatre to Bucks County and maintains a long-term commitment to finding and developing new plays. The theatre is the recipient of over 68 Barrymore Award nominations for Excellence in Theatre, given annually by Theatre Philadelphia. In addition to its mainstage productions, the theatre serves as a cultural hub for the community, with such programs as children's theatre, community concerts and exhibitions of local visual arts.
