Set on a bare stage of a Broadway theatre during an audition, A Chorus Line is a musical about seventeen Broadway dancers all auditioning for spots within a dance chorus. The show provides a glimpse into the dancers' pasts, and the events that shaped their lives leading up to the decision to become a dancer. The original Broadway production received critical acclaim winning nine Tony awards in 1976, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The book was written by James Kirkwood, Jr. and Nicholas Dante, lyrics were written by Edward Kleban, and music was composed by Marvin Hamlisch.
