Meryl Streep Honored at Upcoming Rome Film Festival

Variety reports that the Rome Film Festival will honor Meryl Streep with its Marcus Aurelius lifetime achievement award, while Milos Forman has been tapped as jury president.

Streep will hold an onstage conversation about her stellar career during the event's fourth edition, which runs Oct. 15-23 reports the industry trade paper. Past recipients include Sean Connery and Al Pacino.

Forman will head a six-member jury, which also includes director Gabriele Muccino and architect Gae Aulenti. To read more information on the festival in Variety go here.

Streep recently starred in the film Doubt as the stern Sister Aloysius and was up for an Academy Award for her performance. Streep won the 2008 SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for playing the part in Doubt.

Streep was also nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in The Devil Wears Prada. She is a two-time Oscar winner for Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice, and has been nominated for an additional 11 Oscars. Other film credits include The Deer Hunter, Silkwood, Out of Africa, Postcards from the Edge, Heartburn, The Bridges of Madison Countyand Adaptation. She was also seen on screen as Donna in the film version of the Broadway hit Mamma Mia!. Her many theatre credits include Trelawney of the 'Wells,' The Taming of the Shrew, Happy End, The Cherry Orchard, The Seagull and Mother Courage (she starred in the latter two at the Delacorte Theatre).
